Our Story
Our dad, Raymond Siri, started selling coffee on the streets of Bangkok when he was 12 years old and his family didn’t have the money to continue to support his schooling (he was one of eleven kids). He put himself through night school to get his high school diploma. That grit and entrepreneurial spirit never left him. He came to the U.S. in the 60’s, waited tables, and together with our mom, Sue Siri, worked at and eventually franchised a 7-Eleven. He also owned and worked long hours at their Chinese-Thai take out place in Virginia, and in his final chapter, partnered in a Thai restaurant in DC in 2007, ultimately taking it over at the young age of 60 and turning it into a successful small business. That restaurant, Siam House, was his pride and joy and won THE BEST THAI RESTAURANT 2022 as well as BEST THAI RESTAURANT AND BEST SERVICE 2023 awards by Washington City Paper Best of DC.. Recently, Siam House was named WASHINGTONIAN READER'S FAVORITE THAI RESTAURANT 2023.
Our dad passed in 2017 when liver cancer took him way too soon at the age of 71, but we know he would be thrilled with this honor. He loved nothing more than chatting with his customers, dreaming up new specials for the menu and working alongside his wonderful staff to make the Siam House experience a friendly, warm and inviting one.
Today, three generations of Siri family - our mom (Sue), her daughter and her grandchildren - continue to work hard with our staff to realize our dad’s vision. We are proud to offer generous portions of authentic Thai fare in a relaxed, cozy, happy place. We are grateful to our loyal customers for helping us for many years, especially through the pandemic, and we are energized to continue to provide delicious Thai food for many years to come.
We celebrated our 17th Anniversary February 2024. With over 50 years of restaurant experience, the Siri family and Siam House staff have brought our longstanding Siam House to where it is today. Nothing says like home when you dine in at Siam House with welcoming staff to greet you!
